The world-renowned South Korean pop group BLACKPINK just announced it’s launching an NFT collection in partnership with VeVe. Inspired by their 2022 hit song “Pink Venom,” the collection signals that one of the globe’s most popular bands is- bullish on Web3.
In the past, BLACKPINK has captured the hearts of audiences around the world with their dynamic performances and catchy merchandise, including the ‘Bi-ping-bong’ light stick. Now the group is bringing their swag and merch into the digital realm.
The NFTs go on sale from May 22nd to 26th on VeVe, a digital collectibles and comics platform based in New Zealand. They feature 3D figures of BLACKPINK members in apparel designed by the Bulgarian concept fashion brand DEMOBAZA. Building on the success of their physical merch, there are also digital light stick NFTs and a virtual concert stage. Fans who collect all four digital assets can unlock an exclusive ‘Pink Venom’ autographed collectible card and the chance for future rewards.
Here are more details about the specific collections:
- Light Stick Series. Inspired by the band’s original light stick, this set includes four unique colors and is sold in “blind boxes,” so customers don’t know which Light Stick NFT they’re receiving until after the purchase. Categories include: Light stick (2,890 total NFTs), Silver (2,390), Gold (1,850), and Diamond (1,140).
- Stage Series. A virtual stage that showcases the energy of BLACKPINK’s live performances (4,090 total NFTs).
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen BLACKPINK in Web3. The world’s top girl group and first Korean band to headline the Coachella festival has been quietly inching into the space since 2022. In August 2023, the group announced a virtual space for fans in the Roblox gaming metaverse, and a year before that, BLACKPINK won the recently added Metaverse Performance of the Year award at the MTV Video Music Awards.
Musicians Continue to Take Advantage of Web3
One of the most popular groups in the world dropping an NFT collection is exciting news for Web3 Music and fans of BLACKPINK. But BLACKPINK certainly isn’t the only group, or artist, that’s been taking advantage of Web3 technology by releasing NFTs, metaverse initiatives, and token-gated experiences.
At Rarity Sniper, we’ve covered dozens of articles about musicians entering Web3 in recent months. Here are some of the top headlines:

Musicians have a long history of being slighted by the music industry, but with the introduction of Web3 technology, things are beginning to change. NFTs collections not only provide fans with digital collectibles and experiences, they can serve as a key that directly connects fans to artists, cutting out the middlemen who are notorious for draining musicians’ profits.
We’ll have to be patient to see if BLACKPINK’s new NFT collection will be popular with fans. But considering the group has millions of admirers all around the world, many of whom are young digital natives, we wouldn’t bet against it.
