Eden Games, a subsidiary of Animoca Brands, is releasing a Web3 racing game called ‘Cosmic Royale’ that will open for beta mode on July 24th. The game features 40-player tournaments where users race karts and avoid obstacles in an attempt to become the last participant standing.

The company is opening beta mode to those who have a Moca ID, a type of decentralized identity that gives access to the Animoca Brands ecosystem. Beta will last until August 21st, with players able to earn Realm Points, which may increase eligibility odds for the next $MOCA airdrop. Those who have a Mocaverse NFT can use that PFP as their driver in Cosmic Royale.

Eden Games is planning a full release of the game in Q4 of 2024, with users not needing a Moca ID or Mocaverse NFT to play. One outlet for the game has been confirmed thus far: the Epic Games Play Store, which is known for its friendliness towards Web3 and blockchain-based titles. Cosmic Royale is part of Animoca Brands’ sub-ecosystem called Motorverse.

David Nadal, creative director at Eden Games, said in a statement that the company is excited to welcome hundreds of thousands of players to participate in the Cosmic Tournament. Even better, players can customize their drivers and karts thanks to partnerships with PFP collections, which will make each racer’s story memorable and unique.

Based in Lyon, France, Eden Games was founded in 1998 and got its start as a Nintendo 64 developer. It has a long history of creating racing titles, with its portfolio including Test Drive Unlimited, Gear.Club, and F1 Mobile Racing. All told, the company has sold 15 million game boxes, achieved 75 million game downloads, and published 17 games.

Animoca Brands Generates Enthusiasm in Web3

Animoca Brands is one of the largest names in Web3 gaming, with its portfolio of subsidiaries including Sky Mavis, the creator of Axie Infinity, and TinyTap, which aims to disrupt the education industry through non-fungible tokens. It has made waves even as the crypto market fell into a bear from 2022-2023 and the NFT market has struggled to recover.

Here are three stories involving Animoca Brands from the past eight months.

First, three months ago, Animoca Brands Japan announced a step towards expanding opportunities in the island-nation to overseas projects. The first project was to make non-fungible tokens in a Web3 game available on a Japanese NFT platform. This step, a key to decentralization, is part of the company’s mission to create a free and open digital world.

Next, eight months ago, Animoca Brands partnered with mainstream game publisher Ubisoft for a Web3 gaming push. The centerpiece of that partnership is Ubisoft’s title Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles, which is the Assassin’s Creed creator’s major Web3 venture.

Lastly, also eight months ago, Animoca Brands partnered with Polygon Labs and Amazon Web Services for the development of Web3 products and solutions. Called the ‘MoonRealm Express Accelerator,’ the project will boost developers in sectors like GameFi, SocialFi, and decentralized identity.

As these stories show, Animoca Brands has been busy in Web3 over the past year. Rarity Sniper will keep an eye on the company and Eden Games for any developments in this story and update this article if needed.
