Boss Beauties & Barbie Celebrate Females in the Workplace

Boss Beauties, an NFT collection with the mission to onboard 1 million women and girls into Web3, has partnered with Barbie for a unique line of non-fungible tokens. The drop features the distinctive Boss Beauties art with Barbie career traits, including CEOs, astronauts, veterinarians, and artists. The drop will happen on May 18th, with users able to buy non-fungible tokens on the Mattel Creations marketplace.

The NFTs are organized into packs, with each containing four digital collectibles. The rarity for three of the collectibles are predetermined — two will be “common” and one “uncommon.” The fourth NFT will vary in rarity and may come with select prizes:

  • Rare: Undetermined chance and no extra reward
  • Super Rare: 20% chance with a career sticker pack reward
  • Ultra Rare: 3% chance with a career of the year doll set reward
  • Exclusive: 2% chance with ticket to the World of Barbie in Santa Monica

Mattel is pricing each pack at $25 in what it calls a low-entry point designed that will “lower the barrier of entry to Web3 for all.” The collection is one of the first major drops since the announcement of the new Mattel Creations non-fungible token marketplace, but users can only purchase the digital collectibles with fiat currency.

Lisa McKnight, Executive Vice President and Global Head of Barbie and Dolls, said in a statement that the company is proud to collaborate with Boss Beauties to empower women and other collectors to explore Web3.

“Having exceeded 250 careers, it’s only natural for Barbie to dive deeper into digital collecting by highlighting some of her most recognizable roles,” McKnight added. “Now fans can be inspired by and celebrate her professional accomplishments with these career-centric Boss Beauties x Barbie virtual collectibles.”

This Isn’t the First Boss Beauties-Barbie Partnership

Boss Beauties, the first NFT collection to be featured at the New York Stock Exchange and United Nations, has partnered with Barbie before. In honor of International Women’s Month this past March, the two brands combined to launch a 1/1 NFT designed to empower women at the forefront of technology and creativity.

The digital collectible was part of Boss Beauties’ Role Models collection, which celebrates “inspiring women throughout history,” according to the set’s description on OpenSea.

“As we enter into the world of Web3, it is imperative that women are included,” said Lisa Mayer, CEO and Co-Founder of Boss Beauties said in a statement. She added that the May 18th collection encourages women and girls as they navigate the internet and career landscape, and that its partnership with Mattel helps introduce the generations who love Barbie to Web3.
