Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the world’s most famous footballers, has teamed up with Binance to launch his fourth non-fungible token collection.
The first installment of ‘Forever Worldwide: The Road to Saudi Arabia’ dropped today, May 29th, on the Binance NFT marketplace. The NFTs feature original artwork themed around the locations of Madeira, Manchester, and Lisbon — all of which played an important role in Ronaldo’s career.
The second installment of NFTs focus on other pivotal locations, including Pasquale Garibaldi, Madrid, and Saudi Arabia. There will also be an exclusive auction of seven unique ‘SSR’ NFTs from June 14th to 18th.
According the Binance NFT marketplace, ‘normal NFTs’ can be purchased for the the price of $35 USD with crypto or fiat. Fans who collect the NFTs will have the chance to win rewards, including tickets to live matches, vintage memorabilia, jerseys and signed posters, and even a training session Ronaldo.
Ronaldo said that the new NFT collection offers fans pieces of his journey throughout his football story, and that each NFTs “means a lot” to him personally. Head of Brand Partnership at Binance, Sarah Dale, added that the NFT collection “opens new horizons for NFT utility and fan engagement.”
The move from Ronaldo comes at a time when he is caught up in a class-action lawsuit in the U.S. district court in Florida around a previous NFT collection he launched with Binance. Plaintiffs are seeking damages of more than $1 billion for being misled by the star’s endorsement. But despite the lawsuit, the footballer some argue is the greatest of all time (GOAT), continues to be bullish on Web3 and NFTs.
