Art Basel is one of the most important contemporary art events in the world, and it happens every year in Miami. This year, one of the top crypto exchanges, Kraken, is teaming with the creators of DeGods and y00ts NFT collections, Dust Labs, for four days of events in Miami Beach.

‘DeBasel’ will occur from December 7th to 10th, and have a ‘Poker night,’ a ‘Builder’s BBQ,’ and an after dark party that’s open to holders of OG NFTs like Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), Pudgy Penguins, and of course DeGods and y00ts. ENS Domains, a platform that provides Web3 websites and usernames, is also sponsoring some events.

What is Dust Labs?

Dust Labs is the NFT studio behind DeGods, which minted on October 2021 on the Solana blockchain and quickly became a top collection. The studio was founded in 2021, in Los Angeles by Rohun Vora, also known as Frank DeGods. Y00ts is the second collection from the studio.

Although DeGods and y00ts enjoyed successful runs on Solana, just under a year ago both collections switched blockchains: DeGods moved to Ethereum and y00ts to Polygon. Y00ts would later follow DeGods to Ethereum after a stay on the L2 sidechain.

Who is Kraken?

Kraken is one of the earliest crypto exchanges, founded in the U.S. in 2011 by Jesse Powell. Despite recent accusations from the SEC that the exchange has pledged to fight, Kraken has established itself as being one of the most secure, safe, and reputable exchanges around. Here are two stories we’ve covered this year about the crypto exchange.

First, about a month ago, Kraken released the results of a vote by its NFT community to select six NFTs to be featured on the race cars of Formula 1 drivers Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant. Some of the NFTs that were featured included Sappy Seals, DogePound, Degods, and y00ts. The NFTs appeared at the Austin Grand Prix on October 22nd and in Mexico City on October 29th in front of 100,000’s of fans.

Next, six months ago, Kraken launched its own NFT marketplace. The marketplace features zero gas fees, cash and crypto options, access to top collections, and 24-hour customer service. The goal was to create a marketplace that’s reliable, dynamic, and secure in order to accelerate the adoption of crypto and NFTs.

Rarity Sniper caught up with the Director of Brand Partnerships at Kraken, Lou Frangella, who said the company was “thrilled to partner with Dust Labs as presenting sponsor of DeBasel. The crypto and Web3 community are the heart and soul of our mission at Kraken, and we’re looking forward to supporting and celebrating with this vibrant community in Miami.”

What is Art Basel?

Art Basel, an international art fair created in the 1970s in Miami, has become one of the biggest art fairs and exhibitions in the world. In recent years, it has featured several Web3 and blockchain-based artists and speakers.

Kraken and Dust Labs’ presence at the renowned festival could be a boost for both entities: Kraken as it digs in for another fight with the SEC, and Dust Labs at it tries to ride the recent crypto and NFT waves into a potential bull market and recover its all-time highs. We’ll be keeping our eyes and ears open for any news about the event.
