Mercedes-Benz is back in Web3 news with a new limited-edition NFT collection. ‘The Era of Technology,’ the latest instalment of the Mercedes-Benz “NXT Icons” series, is being launched today in partnership with Mojito.

The collection features 780 limited-edition NFTs themed around iconic Mercedes-Benz cars built between 2000 and 2017, an era when the brand embraced innovative technology in their vehicles. They were created by the design team at Mercedes-Benz, led by Gorden Wagener, the Chief Design Officer.

The six vehicles featured in the collection include the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Coupé, the Maybach Landaulet, the S 560 Cabriolet, CLS 500, G 63 AMG 6×6, and the SL 65 AMG Black Series. The dynamic NFTs come with 62 distinct traits across five visible categories.

To reward its existing Web3 community, holders of previous Mercedes’ collections, such as ‘Maschine,’ ‘NXT Eternities,’ and Mercedes-Benz ‘NXT’ are eligible for a 30% discount. Holders of ‘Superdackel’ receive 15% off. Also, mint passes that were issued as a thank you to collectors of NXT Eternities and Maschine can be burned for one free mint.

Neil Mullins, the CTO at Mojito, said that the company was “extremely excited” to work with Mercedes-Benz. He added that the goal is to “blend the familiarity of Web2 with the innovation of Web3,” as well as to ensure that “every collector interaction is as seamless as it is transformative.”

Mojito is a leading NFT commerce and community engagement platform that serves as the backbone of Mercedes-Benz NXT’s Web3 infrastructure. Launched in 2021, it blends NFTs, blockchain technology, and user-friendly interfaces to help the world’s top creators and brands enter Web3.

The Era of Technology collection goes on sale today, May 21, at 6PM CET for the price 0.08 ETH per NFT. The mint will remain open until May 28th.

Mercedes-Benz Continues to Embrace Web3

The new NFT collection from Mercedes-Benz and Mojito should come as no surprise. Mercedes has been pushing into Web3 for the past couple of years, and at Rarity Sniper, we’ve been here to report it. Here are some of the most recent stories from Mercedes in Web3.

First, in January at the Consumer Electronics Show 2024, Mercedes unveiled its MBUX Virtual Assistant, which includes NFT options and generative AI capabilities. The virtual assistant has four emotional profiles, and is geared towards offering more natural interactions with users.

Next, in August 2023, Mercedes released its third NFT collection in its ‘Core’ NXT Icons series. The NXT Icons series details seven eras of the company’s existence, including The Era of Technology, Precision, Safety, Elegance, Performance, Pioneering, and Luxury.

Finally, about a year ago, Mercedes filed for five trademark applications related to NFTs, the metaverse, cryptocurrency trading, Web3-related materials, and virtual merchandise. The filings signaled metaverse aspirations for the luxury car brand, and some speculate the company could be interested in issuing its own cryptocurrency.

From integrating NFTs and AI into its newest virtual assistant, to continuing its release of exclusive NFT collections, Mercedes-Benz continues to be a leader of luxury car brands in Web3. Time will tell how collectors receive The Era of Technology NFTs. Regardless, we bet Mercedes-Benz will be innovating in Web3 for some time to come.
