Doodles, a top NFT collection on Ethereum, is moving closer to fully customizable avatars. The company just added its Doodle 2 Character Builder to the NFT version of its Stoodio app, a tool that allows NFT holders to change their digital clothing and attributes.

Along with the Character Builder tool, the brand announced an upcoming airdrop of a “Pharrell Pack.” The NFT pack will contain digital apparel from Doodles’ Chief Brand Officer, the legendary singer and producer Pharrell Williams, and some of the fashion labels he works with or has founded — including Human Made, adidas, Billionaire Boys Club, and Ice Cream.

There will be a limited run of 300 total packs, and select Doodles owners who qualify based on certain criteria will receive them for free. According to Doodle’s website, people must have a Doodles NFT and use the Dooplicator NFT to create the digital apparel. Besides the digital wearables, each pack contains a token that can be redeemed for one exclusive item of physical apparel.

Once users add apparel to their Doodles 2 avatars, they own the clothing and can sell it on the Flow blockchain if they choose. Users can put together a complete outfit from a particular brand, then sell the entire ensemble. The move takes Doodles away from its roots as a static profile picture (PFP) NFT project and leans into the idea of customizable avatars moving forward.

Doodles is a family friendly NFT collection that launched in October 2021. It features hand-drawn art from Canadian artist Scott Martin, more popularly known as Burnt Toast. The NFTs current floor price is 2.895 ETH, and the collection has done 279,577 ETH on OpenSea. In June of 2022, Pharrell was named Doodles’ Chief Brand Officer.

Doodles Makes Waves This Year in Web3

Doodles is one of the biggest brands in Web3, so it should come as no surprise that the company is continuing to launch new features to bring value to its holders. At Rarity Sniper, we’ve covered several stories about Doodles this year. Here are the top headlines.

First, about three months ago, we reported that Doodles 2 would be launching on the Flow blockchain. The project lets users create dynamic NFT identities using its Dooplicator tool. The NFTs and wearables can be traded on the Gaia marketplace.

Next, about the same time, we announced that Doodles was set to acquire the award-winning animation studio Golden Wolf. Golden Wolf has worked with Disney in the past and is behind the wildly popular show ‘Rick & Morty.’ Doodles will use the studio to expand its Web3 brand around the world.

Lastly, eight months ago, Doodles announced it had raised $54 million in a funding round led by Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian’s company Seven Seven Six. Doodles is using the funding to expand its reach in music and entertainment.

2022 was a tough year for many NFT projects. But some, like Doodles, have found ways to continue to bring value to their community. We’ll have to be patient to see if its Character Builder tool will be popular with fans. If it is, customizable NFTs could become a new trend in the space.
