Yesterday, June 20th, the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) dropped a video on Twitter teasing the release of its upcoming metaverse game “HV-MTL Forge” — set to debut on June 29th. The announcement has once again set the BAYC community abuzz with excitement.
Since March 15th, holders of Sewer Pass NFTs from BAYC’s Dookie Dash game could burn them for an HV-MTL (heavy metal) mech NFT. The players with the highest scores in the game received the rarest NFTs. Ever since this event known as “The Summoning,” holders have speculated about how their new NFTs might be used in Yuga Labs growing ecosystem. Now the answer (or at least part of it) has arrived.
Similar to the Otherside metaverse from Yuga Labs, HV-MTL has created a fully gamified virtual world with dynamic NFTs that evolve based off their holder’s actions and decisions over time.
With a tagline of “Build. Flex. Fight. Evolve,” the HV-MTL Forge event will let players construct in-game homes for their HV characters, create customized workshops to evolve their NFTs, and showcase their creations to compete for votes. Players can also unlock upgrades to prepare for upcoming in-game events as they fight for a top spot on the leaderboard.
The HV-MTL mech NFTs were launched in March 2023 as a Bored-Ape-adjacent collection. The drop sent off a frenzy of trading on OpenSea, with the floor price for a single NFT reaching 2.7 ETH, or around $4,440 at the time. The NFT collection consists of 30,0000 dynamic NFTs that will become interactive when season one of HV-MTL Forge begins next week.
Like most releases from Yuga Labs, the news about the HV-MTL Forge event is light on details and shrouded in mystery. However, more specifics are expected to be revealed as the release date approaches.
Yuga Lab Continues to Build Its Brand in Web3
In the summer of 2021, hardly a day went by when there wasn’t news from Yuga Labs and its blue-chip NFT collections. Although things have slowed down a bit since “The Summer of NFTs,” that hasn’t stopped Yuga Labs from building its ecosystem and continuing to bring value to its community.

As evidenced by the headlines, Yuga Labs has been busy building and creating all year — and from the looks of things, the studio isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
Fans will have to be patient to see if the HV-MTL Forge event is as popular as other releases from the studio. But considering the reputation of Yuga Labs in Web3, as well as the buildup of excitement around the Dookie Dash Game and the accompanying dynamic HV-MTL NFTs, we think there’s a good shot it will be.
