Yuga Labs is back in NFT news again. This time it’s for the jaw-dropping sale of its winning “Golden Key” from its Dookey Dash endless runner game, which sold today for a whopping $1.6 million — or 1,000 ETH.
The Key was listed by 18-year-old Fortnite player Kyle “Mongraal” Jackson, who earned the one-of-one NFT by receiving the highest score on Dookey Dash. The skill-based NFT game was released last month by Yuga Labs, the parent company of the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) and Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC) NFT collections.
The Golden Key was initially listed for 2,222 ETH, or about $3.6 million. Mongraal received substantial offers from the United Planets DAO for 670 ETH, and the user-generated meme site 9GAG for 9,999 ETH before ultimately accepting an offer from Adam Weitsman, the CEO of a New York-based scrap metal shredding company, for 1,000 ETH on OpenSea.
The news was announced via tweet from Mongraal:
I have agreed to sell the key for 1000 ETH to @AdamWeitsman. Super nice guy and thrilled the sale went through with him.

The Dookey Dash game was made available to BAYC and MAYC members, as well as anyone who bought a Sewer Pass NFT on the secondary market. Gameplay took place from January 18th to February 15th of 2023 and brought in nearly 40,000 ETH, or about $64 million in sales volume.
According to Yuga Labs, on March 8th, Dookey Dash pass holders will be able to use their NFTs to summon their “Power Source.” Users who didn’t place on the Dookey Dash leaderboard have until March 1 to play in “Dookey Dash: Toad Mode” for the chance to win additional prizes.
Yuga Labs Keeps Bringing Value To Its Community
Despite the volatile nature of the NFT space, Yuga Labs is proving to be a studio that can deliver value to its holders. In recent months, we’ve written several articles about Yuga Labs launching projects and new features for members. Here are the three top stories.
First, seven months ago, Yuga Labs released IP rights for its CryptoPunks and Meebits NFT holders. The move granted holders of those NFT collections full commercial and personal rights, which they can use however they see fit. This was big for holders who previously did not have commercial rights to their NFTs.
Next, the ApeCoin DAO, a Web3 community for ApeCoin holders, launched its own NFT marketplace. ApeCoin is the NFT coin for the Bored Ape Yacht Club ecosystem, and the new NFT marketplace is built specifically to serve the ApeCoin community’s needs.
Lastly, early this month, Yuga Labs placed CryptoPunks #110 into the Centre Pompidou in Paris, one of the most renowned contemporary art museums in the world. The move is part of the Punk Legacy Project, which aims to bring awareness to the cultural relevance of the CryptoPunks NFTs.
There’s no doubt that Yuga Labs is one of the top Web3 studios around. Today’s sale of the Golden Key NFT isn’t just big news for the winner of Dookie Dash — Mongraal — but for the entire Yuga Labs community. We’ll be on the lookout for more news from Yuga Labs.
