CryptoPunks — one of the most iconic NFT collections ever — continues to push the boundaries of Web3 art and the cultural conversation around non-fungible tokens. Its latest move adds CryptoPunks #110 to the permanent collection of one of most reputable contemporary art museums in the world — the Centre Pompidou.

The project was orchestrated by the Punk Legacy Project, which that seeks to bring awareness to the provenance and cultural relevance of CryptoPunks. It also guides institutions in Web3, offers resources in crypto art history, education, and the best NFT security practices.

The Punks Legacy Project has donated Punks to some of the world’s leading art museums, including CryptoPunk #305 to the Institute of Contemporary Art in Miami at Art Basel in 2022.

CryptoPunks is a 10K generative art NFT collection inspired by the London punk scene. It launched in 2017 to find out if digital assets stored on the blockchain could have value, and quickly answered that question with a resounding yes. Now, CryptoPunks is recognized as the OG of generative NFT collections. It is currently owned by Yuga Labs, a Web3 leader and home to the Bored Ape Yacht Club, Mutant Ape Yacht Club, and Meebits.

Greg Solano, co-founder of Yuga Labs, said that seeing the Punk displayed in the Centre Pompidou was a “great moment for the web3 and NFT ecosystem.” He added that the team was honored to “drive this cultural conversation” around NFT art.

The Centre Pompidou is one of the most iconic contemporary art museums in the world. The partnership shows CryptoPunks are being recognized as a key part of the Web3 art movement by the broader art industry.

Yuga Labs Continues to Innovate in Web3

CryptoPunks #110 being added to the permanent collection of one of the most important contemporary art museums in the world is big news for NFT fans. But pushing the cultural conversation around NFT art isn’t the only thing Yuga Labs has been up to in recent months. At Rarity Sniper, we’ve written dozens of articles about Yuga Labs innovating in Web3.

Here are some of the most recent headlines involving Yuga Labs:

Despite a chilly crypto winter that wreaked havoc on the NFT ecosystem as well, Yuga Labs has proven its resilience and ability to innovate and create value for holders. The Punks Legacy Project also shows the Web3 brand has its eyes on the future of the ecosystem and the roll NFTs play in it, and not just the present moment. For NFT fans in Paris, CryptoPunk #101 should be a welcome addition to the Centre Pompidou’s collection.
