Inspired by designer Dapper Dan’s DAP GAP hoodies, Gap is dropping a line of DAP GAP NFTs on its Gap Threads platform. Customers who couldn’t snag a literal DAP GAP hoodie will soon have the opportunity to win official DAP GAP merchandise with some of these new NFTs.
To kick off its new DAP GAP NFT collection, Gap is auctioning a 19-second video NFT that features a stylish varsity jacket strutting around like an Invisible Friends NFT. The person who wins this NFT auction will get a physical DAP GAP varsity jacket with Dapper Dan’s autograph.
Bidding for the varsity jacket NFT started on April 2nd at 9 AM PT, and it will run for two days. Currently, the highest bid for this NFT collectible was 225 XTZ (or about $900).
Following this initial auction, Gap will unlock more DAP GAP NFTs in three scheduled drops. First, Gap will release the “DAP GAP Common NFTs” at 9 AM PT on April 5th. As the name suggests, these NFTs will have the most editions, but they won’t be available for purchase once the 48-hour window closes.
Next, Gap will drop its “DAP GAP Rare NFTs” at 9 AM PT on April 7th. While these NFTs won’t disappear after 48 hours, there will only be 2,400 Rare tokens.
Lastly, customers could try to grab one of the 500 “DAP GAP Epic NFTs” at 9 AM PT on April 12th. Unlike the previous two NFT categories, DAP GAP Epic NFTs come with a physical DAP GAP clothing item.
Note: You can’t buy a DAP GAP Epic NFT if you don’t already own four Common and two Rare DAP GAP NFTs. Gap says you need to combine these NFTs to create a new “Collector’s Special NFT.” Only people who have one Collector’s Special NFT could access DAP GAP Epic NFTs.
Customers should also remember that Gap Threads is on the Tezos blockchain. Therefore, customers need a Tezos compatible wallet and Tezos’ native token XTZ for NFT transactions and gas fees.
Recent reports suggest the DAP GAP Common NFTs will sell for about 2 XTZ each (about $8). Gap’s Rare NFTs will retail for 10 XTZ (about $40), while the Epic NFTs will go for 100 XTZ each (about $400).
Gap says it will donate the proceeds from DAP GAP NFT sales to the Fifteen Percent Pledge.
Gap NFT Holders Might get a DAP GAP NFT Airdrop
If you already collect NFTs on Gap Threads, you may see a DAP GAP NFT land in your wallet in the upcoming days. According to Gap, people who have a Metallic Series NFT will automatically get a DAP GAP Common NFT. Also, Gap will airdrop DAP GAP Rare NFTs into wallets holding a Frank Ape Epic NFT.
Plus, collectors with unredeemed “Collector’s Special” NFTs from Gap’s Metallic Series will get VIP access to DAP GAP Epic NFTs. NFT collectors in this exclusive club could access 100 versions of these Epic NFTs an hour before their 9 AM PT launch.
